Cruise of Portuguese Explorers - the first leg of two years expedition "Drake Passage 2016/2017" planned to reach Antarctica and the Cape Horn.
The yacht has proven itself very well in the conditions of navigation in northern waters, reaching the northern areas of Greenland sailing at the late autumn stormy waters of the North Atlantic. In 2015, sailed over 17 000 nautical miles from the coast of Africa to the Arctic ice fields, almost 200 sailors learned the
taste of ocean adventure.
Arctic nature, challenging sailing in cold climate, ice fields and other northern challenges were our common unforgettable experience. All those hard time sailing hours were compensated by unforgettable moments in the fabulous scenery of Greenland glaciers and wildlife of the Arctic.
This summer we sail to the Madeira, the Azores and Cape Verde all those green islands scattered in the Atlantic archipelagos of the unique fauna and flora, and yet little visited by our crew. Our route is planned in such way that despite the large distances longest legs will take maximum two weeks of sailing. For most busiest one we organized a cruise for a week, which will let them visit these remote and very interesting parts of the Atlantic.
We set off in May of Albufeira in the Algarve, which was the center of the midle ages sailors. World. The Carthaginians founded a town of Tavira already 400 years BC. In Sagres at Cape St. Vincent existed a legendary school of navigation founded by Henry the Navigator. Madeira crew set off under the patronage of João Gonçalves Zarco. Then we sail to the Azores, and there our guide will Diogo de Silves'a. Azores evergreen island - where coffee and tea grows wild and fun harbour with Peter pub waiting for daredevils.
Part II - Autumn 2016 / Discovering America in 2016 year
From the Portuguese islands crusing over Canary Islands we will come to Cabo Verde islands the last stop before Brazil! Next will folow route of Vasco da Gama (who from Cabo Verde sailed to India) and then we will take the route of Cpt. Pedro Alvares Cabral we was the first who choose the direction to Brazil. On the way we will visist fabulous island of Fernando de Noronha. Sailing through the coast of Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, the Strait of Magellan strait we will come to Ushuaia.
Plans for 2017 are also ready, we stay on sother ocean sailind to the Cape Horn and to Antarctica
